Seminar
On the 4th of April 2023, the English department in the College for human sciences held a seminar entitled ( introduction to Forensic Linguistics) presented by M.A. Ibaa Aldeen Hussam Abbas. The seminar aimed at acquainting the attendees with the term Forensic Linguistics, its applications, types of analysis, issues, and controversies.
The lecturer started by signifying the interest of linguists in the language of the law and court, its origins, and its complications. Finally, he illustrated the types of analysis used to analyze the texts.
Part of the attendees was the Dean Scientific Assistant Professor ( Muayyad Omran Chiad), a number of the English department staff, and some of the students. Most of the attendees showed a positive response toward the content of the seminar and deemed it helpful.
