“The first joint scientific conference between Karbala Government, Karbala University/College of Education for Humanities, and the Directorate of Education of Karbala Province was held under the sponsorship and supervision of  Karbala Governor Engineer (Nasif Jasim Al-Khattabi) and under the chairmanship of the President of Karbala University, Professor Dr. (Bassim Khaleel Nile Al-Sa’edi). The conference was held on Saturday, April 8, 2023, Ramadan 17, 1444 AH, and was attended by a wide range of official and academic figures under the slogan “Imam Ali (AS) – The Lantern of Wisdom and Governance”. The conference was held in the Local Administration Hall of Karbala Province.

The ceremony began with a welcome speech from  the head of the Arabic Language Department at the College of Education for Humanities, Professor Dr. (Laith Qaabel Obaid), welcoming the attendees and recalling the testimony of Imam Ali (AS). This was followed by a recitation of a verse from the Holy Quran, the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah for the souls of the martyrs of Iraq, the playing of the national anthem, and a presentation on the urban, medical, and agricultural achievements of the government of the province. This was followed by a speech from the Holy Karbala Governor Engineer (Nasif Jasim Al-Khattabi) and then a speech from the President of the University, Professor Dr. (Bassim Khaleel Nile Al-Sa’edi). The opening session was then chaired by experienced Professor Dr. (Hakim Habib Al-Karaiti) and assisted by Assistant Professor Dr. (Falha Rasool Al-Hasani), with lectures given by Professor Dr. (Hassan Al-Hakim) and Professor Dr. (Salah Al-Fartousi) on the personality of Imam Ali (AS) and his most important milestones and accomplishments. In the opening session, Dr. (Abeer Abdul-Rasoul Al-Tamimi) presented a summary of her research, followed by a discussion of the presented research.

The conference aimed to raise awareness of the importance of the personality of Imam Ali (AS) and to reveal his role in facing the crises and difficulties that have befallen the Islamic nation, as well as to highlight his leadership role and impact in establishing the principles of the true Islamic religion.

The conference program included four axes: religious studies, historical and intellectual studies, cultural and artistic studies, and educational and pedagogical studies, as well as discussions and debates on various topics related to the conference theme.”
