The College of Education for Humanities hosts a scientific symposium for the delegation of the British Institute for Islamic studies.

The College of Education for Humanities at the University of Karbala, in cooperation with the Karbala Center for Studies and Research, at the Holy Shrine of imam al Hussein, today, Tuesday, 5/2/2024, in the Hall of Sayyid al-Shuhada (peace be upon him), hosted a scientific symposium on the history of Islamic scholars in  Karbala, in the presence of a scientific delegation from the British Institute for Islamic studies.

After welcoming the delegation, Professor Dr. Sabah Wajid Ali, Dean of the College, spoke at the beginning of the symposium about the scientific movement in the governorate, the role of universities in reviving the heritage of the scholars of Holy Karbala, and the importance of the combined efforts of professors and researchers to write about this topic.

Then Professor Abd al-Amir al-Qurayshi gave a speech in which he touched on the historical sequence of the scientific movement in the city of Karbala and the role of the seminaries and religious authorities in spreading the sciences of the Ahlul-bait (peace be upon them) in various parts of the world. He also touched on the efforts of the Karbala Center for Studies and Research in perpetuating the scientific and religious heritage of the city of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) and the scientific conferences organized by the Center in this regard.

In the scientific research section, professors from the British Institute for Islamic studies presented by: Prof. Dr. Robert Cliff, Dr. Bianca Speidel, and Dr. Camille Rajani presented a scientific research that dealt with the history of the Islamic scholars of Karbala with an analytical study that gained the approval of the attendees, and a number of the attending professors commented on it with important interventions that enriched the discussion taking place with valuable information and opinions.

In conclusion, Professor Al-Quraishi presented the Center’s shield to the Dean of the College and his scientific and administrative assistants, in appreciation of their continued cooperation with the center in organizing various scientific activities and events. In return, the Dean presented certificates of appreciation to the director of the Center and members of the foreign delegation, offering his thanks and praise to the Karbala Center to have organized this distinguished scientific symposium.

The symposium was attended by a large number of college teachers and students. The final remarks of the symposium, the visiting delegation appreciated the warm welcome and the good efforts of the college Dean Dr. Sabah Wajid Ali to host this scientific symposium.
