Developing Students’ Professional Skills to Keep Pace with the Development of Teaching and Learning Technologies

Karbala, Iraq – April 2, 2024

The College of Education for Humanities at the University of Karbala, in cooperation with the Rehabilitation, Employment, and Follow-up Unit, the Continuing Education Unit, and the Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences, organized a scientific workshop on developing students’ professional skills to keep pace with the development of teaching and learning technologies on Tuesday morning, April 2, 2024, at 10:30 AM in Al- Maa’rif  Hall. The workshop targeted graduate and undergraduate students in the college.

The workshop aimed to:

* Identify the most important modern technologies in the university education process.

* Raise students’ awareness of the need to train on using modern technologies and teaching methods.

* Develop students’ skills in using innovations in the educational process (distance learning, e-learning, blended learning) and employing modern technologies in a way that is compatible with the labor market.

The workshop concluded with recommendations for making the most of these technologies in education to achieve the desired goal. The researchers in the workshop called for:

* Encouraging the use of modern technological skills in university education.

* The need for the university to provide the material and human resources to integrate technology into skills learning by developing curricula.

* Inculcating digital and technical skills in all levels of education.

* Encouraging faculty members to use modern technologies in the educational process.

* The need to implement the e-learning (blended) system.

* The need to focus on the quality of students by graduating qualified cadres with skills that match the outputs of universities and the requirements of the labor market.

The workshop was attended by the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Sabah Wajid Ali.

The workshop was well-received by the participants, who found it to be informative and engaging. They appreciated the opportunity to learn about the latest technologies in education and to discuss the challenges and opportunities of using these technologies to develop their professional skills.
