Master’s Thesis Discusses “The Level of Practice of Social Studies Teachers in Intermediate Schools for Alternative Assessment Methods in Light of Modern Trends” On Monday morning, April 29, 2024, in the (Knowledge) Hall in the College of Education for the Humanities / University of Karbala, a master’s thesis was discussed in the Department of History / Specialization in Methods of Teaching History for the student (Furqan Adel Abbas) entitled (The Level of Practice of Social Studies Teachers and Teachers in Intermediate Schools for Alternative Assessment Methods in Light of Modern Trends).The thesis was supervised by Prof. Dr. (Saad Jawad Kazim) The thesis aimed to identify the level of practice of social studies teachers and teachers in the intermediate stage for alternative assessment methods in light of modern trends. The research also aims to identify their level of practice according to the variable of gender (males – females) as well as according to the variable of educational qualification and the variable of years of service. The researcher relied on the descriptive method in the research. The research community was represented by social studies teachers and teachers in the intermediate government schools in Karbala Governorate, numbering (612). The sample size of the research was (275) teachers and schools who were chosen by the stratified random method and they constitute a percentage of (45%). To collect information and data, the researcher used the (questionnaire) tool, which was verified for all its psychometric properties. The results showed that the level of practice of social studies teachers and teachers in the intermediate stage for alternative assessment methods in Karbala Governorate was (high). The research also concluded that there are no statistically significant differences in the responses of the research sample individuals to the questionnaire items (level of practice of alternative assessment methods) attributed to the variable of gender (males – females). As for the variable of educational qualification, the results showed that there are statistically significant differences in favor of holders of higher qualifications. As for the variable of years of service, the results showed that there are statistically significant differences in favor of those with service (5 – 10 years) and (more than 10 years) at the expense of those with service (less than 5 years). After a thorough scientific discussion by the scientific committee headed by Dr. (Sadiq Abbas Mankour), the thesis was accepted, and the student was awarded a Master’s degree in History / Specialization in Methods of Teaching History.
