Professor Dr. Azhar Hassan Saloumi, a faculty member in the Department of English at the College of Education for the Humanities, University of Kerbala, was selected as a member of the PhD dissertation defense committee for the thesis titled “A Critical Environmental Linguistic Study of Protecting Environment in the Speeches of Decision-Makers”, presented by the student, Hamsa Sami’ Nahir, at the College of Education for the Humanities, University of Babylon.
The study presented a critical environmental analysis of the concept of protecting environment in the speeches of decision-makers. It aimed to identify the different linguistic choices that convey environmental perceptions and decision-making, uncovering the implicit meanings in these speeches and identifying the ideologies adopted by decision-makers.
