As part of the activities and events of Global Entrepreneurship Week, the College of Education for Humanities at Kerbala University organized a scientific seminar titled “Analysis of QS University Rankings Data: A Study of Kerbala University Ranking as a Model,” presented by Dr. Mohi Mortada Mohi Al-Qazwini, andAsst. Lect Kadhim Ali Ahmed, and Asst.Lect. Saif Ali Hussein, with the presence of several academics and researchers, specialized in the field of higher education.The seminar aims to provide an in-depth understanding of QS ranking criteria: participants were able to learn about the criteria and how to improve the university’s performance in each of them. Additionally, strategies for improving the ranking were discussed: practical recommendations were presented to support scientific research, enhance international cooperation, and increase internationalization. Furthermore, data analysis tools were analyzed: tools and techniques for analyzing ranking data and identifying strengths and weaknesses were presented.The seminar included several topics that focused on the importance of the QS ranking in enhancing the reputation of universities locally and globally and its role as a tool for evaluating the academic and research performance of educational institutions. The six QS ranking criteria were reviewed, which are: (academic reputation: assessing the opinions of academics globally, employer reputation: measuring job market satisfaction with university graduates, student-to-faculty ratio: an indicator of education quality, research citations per faculty member: an indicator of scientific output, international student ratio: a measure of the university’s appeal to foreign students, as well as the international faculty ratio: measuring the university’s international openness).As an analysis of the performance of Kerbala University, speakers provided a comprehensive analysis of Kerbala University’s performance in the QS ranking, focusing on strengths such as research performance and the student-to-faculty ratio, as well as the challenges facing the university, such as enhancing its international reputation and increasing the proportion of international students and staff members.In conclusion, the seminar emphasized the importance of using the QS ranking as a tool for developing higher education in Iraq and called for adopting strategies that contribute to improving the ranking of Kerbala University among global universities.
