College of Education for the Humanities Hosts Award Ceremony for Winners of the “Be a Reader” Competition

In alignment with its mission to enrich cultural awareness and underscore the importance of knowledge within an academic context, the College of Education for the Humanities at the University of Kerbala organised an award ceremony for the winners of the “Be a Reader” competition. The event was attended by the University President, Prof. Dr Sabah Wajid Ali, along with his scientific and administrative assistants, the Dean of the College of Education for the Humanities, Prof. Dr Hadi Al-Sa’eedi, his assistants, department heads, staffmembers, and students.

In his address, the Dean emphasised: “Creating a knowledge-driven environment within academia and fostering a space for inquiry, critical thinking, and active reading are among the essential indicators for addressing complex questions. The competition ‘Be a Reader’, launched in its first edition by our college, reflects the vision of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and our esteemed university. This initiative aims to encourage a vibrant, competitive spirit among our students and inspire meaningful awareness capable of fostering a deeper understanding of the surrounding world. Reading is not merely a passive activity but an active process that reshapes our identities and possesses the transformative power to rebuild our values and worldview.”

Notably, this cultural event marks a pioneering effort at the university and college levels. The ceremony concluded with the University President and the Dean presenting awards to the winning students and recognising the efforts done by the committees of organising and supervising the competition.
