The Department of Arabic at the Faculty of Education for Humanities /University of Kerbala held a training workshop entitled ((Reading the book: The Code of Violence in Iraq by Dr Ahmed Hamid)), lectured by Dr. Hamza Abdul Hamza Aliwi, in the presence of students and professors of the department.
The workshop aims to discuss the issues of violence and its narrative representations in the Iraqi novel as they appear in the book The Code of Violence in Iraq, which is a sociological study of the patterns and formations of violence in the Iraqi novel.
The workshop included the following themes Providing an initial summary of the issues of reading violence and its narrative representations in the Iraqi novel; reading the critical discourse in The Code of Violence in Iraq on the basis of the procedures of critical criticism; and approaching the book’s studies, especially the sociological approach to violence, with other methodological approaches, such as cultural criticism.
