As part of efforts to revive the rich heritage of the holy city of Kerbala, a staff member from the Department of History at the College of Education for the Humanities, Prof. Dr Haider Al-Kerbala’i, participated as a member of the scientific committee in the First Kerbala Civilizational Forum. The forum, held under the theme “Kerbala: A History Written by Imam Hussein,” was organised by the Kerbala Centre for Studies and Research at the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein.
The forum intended to shed light on the intellectual dimensions that have emerged and evolved within the holy city of Kerbala since its establishment to the present day. It also explored the foundations and principles represented by Kerbala throughout its civilizational journey, aspiring to globalise Kerbala’s legacy by highlighting its intellectual, ethical, and cultural contributions.
The forum featured several key topics, including education, the historical significance of ancient civilisations in Kerbala, and aspects of its modern and contemporary history.
