A Staff Member of the College of Education for the Humanities Participates in the Seventh International Scientific Conference on Theoretical and Applied Contributions in Multidisciplinary Sciences

As part of the scientific and academic efforts of the teaching staff at the College of Education for the Humanities, University of Kerbala, Asst. Lect. Aalaa’Hussein Mohammed Al-Khafaji, a staff member in the Department of Applied Geography, participated virtually in the Seventh International Scientific Conference titled “Theoretical or Applied Research Contributions in Multidisciplinary Sciences (Humanities and Social Sciences, Applied and Pure Sciences, Health and Administrative Sciences, Arts and Literature, Law, Politics, Economics and Administration, Sports and Office Sciences, and Other Fields of Knowledge)” under the slogan “Towards Enhancing Scientific Impact to Support Human Progress” held in the United States. She presented her research paper entitled “Analyzing Strengths and Weaknesses of Defunct Manufacturing Industries in Kerbala Governorate Using the SWOT Analysis Method.”

The research aims to highlight the importance of rebuilding manufacturing industries by leveraging the geographical and natural resources of Kerbala. These factors play a pivotal role in ensuring the success of various key industries, primarily due to the presence of a market capable of accommodating large quantities of industrial products and an available workforce. The researcher employed the SWOT analysis matrix to identify the strengths in the environmental context of Kerbala Governorate, facilitating the revitalization of these industries, creating investment opportunities, achieving industrial development, and proposing future policies to direct investments toward enhancing the spatial infrastructure of the studied area.

The study concluded with a set of findings demonstrating the relationship between the developmental geographic potential and the available spatial features essential for rehabilitating and operating these establishments. It also identified investment opportunities and suggested spatial orientations for their optimal utilization.

The participation of the staff of the College of Education for the Humanities in international scientific conferences reflects the college’s approach to fostering openness and active involvement in academic forums worldwide, in addition to local initiatives. This aligns with the broader mission of advancing the humanities and social sciences, broadening their horizons, and spotlighting both local and global experiences in these fields.
