As part of the ongoing external engagements of professors and faculty members of the College of Education for the Humanities in graduate thesis defense committees, the Head of the Department of Applied Geography, Prof. Dr. Murtadha Jaleel Ibrahim Al-Ma’mouri, had the honour of chairing the committee for the defense of a master’s thesis entitled: “Assessment of Soil Characteristics and Their Impact on Agricultural Activities in Al-Hashimiyah District” at the University of Babylon.
The study aimed to identify the key physical and chemical properties of soil in Al-Hashimiyah District and to examine the most significant geographical factors influencing these properties. Additionally, it sought to understand the spatial variation in soil physical and chemical characteristics and their productivity potential. This was achieved through the application of modern technologies in soil characterization and evaluation.
