In continuation of the discussion sessions of graduate students in the Department of History at the College of Education for the Humanities at the University of Kerbala, a master’s thesis entitled “Imam Ali (PBUH) in the book” The Important Chapters in Knowing the Imams” by Ibn al-Sabbagh al-Maliki (d. 855 AH – 1452 AD) was discussed, by the researcher Sajida Hamid Shaker, and under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Salwa Hassan Eidan.
The importance of the thesis lies in shedding light on the narrations that pertained to Imam Ali (PBUH), especially his life, his conversion to Islam, his caliphate, and the battles he fought. The researcher relied on the method based on comparing the narrations of the Important Chapters in Knowing the Imams and the sources that preceded it.
The study included three chapters. The first chapter was devoted to studying the life of Ibn al-Sabbagh al-Maliki, his method, and his resources. The second chapter dealt with the personal biography of Imam Ali bin Abi Talib (PBUH) and his scientific status according to Ibn Al-Sabbagh Al-Maliki, and the third chapter discussed the jihadist role of Imam Ali (peace be upon him).
