As part of the Cultural festival of the College of Education for the Humanities under the theme “The Challenges of Curricula in the Humanities“, the Department of Applied Geography arranged a workshop titled “The Challenges of Human Sciences in the Era of Digital Transformation and the Issues of Curricula in the Departments of Geography“. Prof. Dr. Riyadh Kazem Salman Al-Jumaili and Prof. Dr. Wasan Shihab Ahmed Al-Obaidi presented the materials in the workshop. Several staff members as well as students attended the workshop.
Moreover, the workshop aimed to highlight the significance of humanities, their unique epistemological features, in addition to identifying the possible procedural approaches that may develop Human Sciences.
In light of this, the lecturers discussed key topics including: a historical overview of the development of humanities and their place among other sciences, the challenges faced by humanities in the era of digital transformation, and research approaches in the departments of geography.
Finally, the workshop introduced several recommendations and scientific insights aimed at accelerating the integration of humanities into the digital age and addressing contemporary academic challenges.
