As part of the institutional reform pillar established by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in its strategic plan, the Unit of Women’s Affairs at the College of Education for the Humanities, University of Kerbala, represented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Sundus Mohammed Alwan arranged the first cultural festival in collaboration with the Intellectual Affairs Division of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein, represented by Sheikh Mazen Al-Tamimi. The event was held under the slogan “Our Imams (AS): Guidance & Illumination”. The Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Muyyad Omran Chiad, attended the festival alongside several staff members and students.
It is important to note that the festival, held in celebration of the blessed births of Imams in Sha’ban, began with a recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an, followed by the Fatiha prayer dedicated to the souls of the righteous martyrs. The program also featured poetic performances that expressed love for Ahl al-Bayt (Peace Be Upon Them) and highlighted their noble births.
During the event, Sheikh Mazen Al-Tamimi delivered a lecture on spiritual topics discussing the jihadist and reformist approach of the Imams (Peace Be Upon Them).
Additionally, Assist. Lect. Muslim Sadiq delivered a lecture on raising awareness at educating students against intellectual invasion and stressing the importance of preserving religious identity.
The festival also included an interactive student competition with questions about the Imams (AS), arranged by Assist. Lect. Rasha Ali Abdul Abbas. The competition was set among the third-year students and the fourth-year students from the Department of English. The winner of the competition was the third stage party.
Finally, the festival ended with an exhibition of handmade crafts by the college’s female students, including paintings, embroidery, flower arrangements, and other artistic works. The festival concluded with a ceremony honouring the participating students.
