The College of Education for the Humanities Organises a Seminar Familiarising the Central Public Library of Karbala

As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance educational processes and support knowledge and scientific research, the Women’s Affairs Unit (The linguistic committee of events and competitions) at the College of Education for the Humanities, in collaboration with the Central Public Library of Karbala, organised a seminar titled: “The Central Public Library of Karbala: Memory, Reality, and Prospects”.

The Director of the Central Library, Mr. Mahmoud Abbas Al-Anbar, and Dr. Abbas Ubaid Al-Ameri, a staff member at the College of Education for the Humanities presented the seminar with the attendance of several staff members and students. It aimed to introduce students to the library’s intellectual and scientific landmark, which is an essential part of the memory and history of Karbala.

Moreover, key focus was given to the significance of the Central Library, highlighting the various services it provides such as facilitating access to academic resources, textbooks, and general cultural materials in an environment conducive to reading and research.

The speakers also elaborated on cataloguing systems, the process of finding resources, and the borrowing services available to visitors.

It is worth mentioning that the Central Public Library of Karbala was established in 1942 and contains thousands of resources, including manuscripts, poetry collections, academic dissertations, and rare books. It also features specialised reading rooms, including a children’s library and a digital library, to meet the diverse needs of the community.
