Strategies for Combating Violence Leading to Terrorism: A Scientific Workshop at the Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences

As part of efforts to curb extremism and societal violence and to promote a culture of peaceful coexistence, the Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences at the College of Education for the Humanities, University of Kerbala, hosted a scientific workshop titled “Strategies for Combating Violence Leading to Terrorism.” The workshop was presented by the Head of the Department, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Azirjawi, and was attended by faculty members and students of the college.

The primary objective of the workshop was to highlight key strategies that should be implemented within society to mitigate violence, in addition to addressing the various types of violence that impact communities.

The workshop explored the challenges and mechanisms of discipline that require diverse and pragmatic strategies to reduce violence leading to terrorism. It addressed several key topics, including the role of fanaticism as a fundamental element in the process of terrorism and mechanisms to eliminate it through fostering acceptance and respect for others.

The workshop concluded with several recommendations, most notably the necessity of developing cultural awareness programs aimed at channeling social energy within the community and preventing negative behaviors that contribute to fanaticism and terrorism.
