The College of Education for the Humanities at the University of Kerbala organized a scientific symposium entitled “Addiction and Social Responsibility: Our Roles in Reducing Social Stigma”, lectured by Dr. Marwa Abdel Azim Yassin, in the presence of undergraduate students.
The symposium aimed to put an awareness on addiction and its relationship to stigma, and the role of the conscious young people in providing social and psychological support to recovering addicts. The symposium included the following topics: defining addiction, the factors that influence a person’s addiction, as well as statistics on drug prevalence rates.
It is worth noting that the session witnessed a distinguished attendance and positive interaction from the students, who praised the importance of the topic and the depth of the presentation. This event also comes within a series of purposeful activities organized by the college to enhance cultural and social awareness among students.
