Under the slogan “The debater leads a life”, the Dean of the College of Education for the Humanities, Professor Dr. Hadi Al-Saeedi, participated on behalf of the President of the University of Kerbala, Prof. Dr. Sabah Wajid Ali, in the closing ceremony of the World Cup of Scientific Debates for Iraqi Universities, held at the University of Technology and organized by the International Academy for Leadership and Development, in the presence of an elite group of Iraqi university presidents and prominent academic figures.
The competition between the debaters aimed at enhancing the skill of dialogue and communication, aa well as providing an opportunity to exchange and cross-pollinate scientific and cultural information and ideas, in addition to enhancing leadership and creative skills among the young generation. The second edition of the World Cup included the participation of ninety-one universities to qualify for the finals, while four universities qualified for the final stages (Tikrit University, Al-Sibtain University, National University of Science and Technology and Al-Mustansiriya University as well). Worth mentioning that the Tikrit University won first place in the second edition of the World Cup of Scientific Debates for Iraqi Universities. Furthermore, the World Cup of Scientific Debates for Iraqi Universities is a cultural competition between Iraqi governmental and private universities with the aim of forming a scientific team representing Iraqi universities in preparation for participation in the World Cup of International Universities.
