1. THE FACULTY MEMBERS OF THE COLLEGE OF EDUCATION FOR THE HUMANITIES PARTICIPATE IN A SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE ON DRUGS

A number of lecturers in the Department of Applied Geography at the Faculty of Education for the Humanities participated in the scientific conference entitled “Drugs and Psychotropic Substances: The Scourge of Society” which was held by Sadr Al-Iraq University College in cooperation with the Union of Arab Academics and Technicians.  The lecturers participated with their scientific research entitled “Enhancing the Effects of Recreational Activities as a Strategy to Reduce the Phenomenon of Drug Addiction: Karbala Governorate as a Model”.

The research focused on the phenomenon of drug addiction, which is one of the most dangerous social and health challenges facing modern societies, while clarifying the role of recreational activities in reducing this phenomenon, because they contribute effectively to reducing the rates of drug use and addiction, especially in young societies such as Iraqi society by providing positive alternatives that fill the free time of individuals, especially young people, with technological development and changing the modern lifestyle.

The participation of the lecturers of the College of Education for the Humanities in scientific conferences comes within the College’s orientations towards openness and active participation in academic forums and within the efforts aimed at developing the humanities and social sciences and expanding their horizons, in addition to shedding light on local experiences in the field of the humanities and social sciences.
