The Department of Geography Organizes a Scientific Course in Collaboration with the Educational Guidance Section

The Department of Applied Geography, in collaboration with the Educational Guidance and Counselling Section at the College of Education for the Humanities, organized a scientific course titled “Academic Guidance and its Role in Developing University Students’ Skills.” The course was presented by Lect. Dr. Nuha Ni’ma Mohammed, Assist. Lect. Turath Abd Al-Azim, and Lect. Dr. Sahar Raad Abbas, with the attendance of the college students.

The course aimed to master guidance skills for the students of the College of Education, primarily to provide them with sufficient information and raise awareness of the importance of guidance services and how they are offered.

The course covered the following topics: the concept of academic guidance, its objectives, types, and the role it does in developing university education, building social values, and the challenges faced by students.

It is worth mentioning that educational guidance is a professional and educational process offered to students in universities as well as it is considered one of the most important means to help students integrate into the academic environment, achieve high success rates, and improve both academic and behavioural levels.
