THE DEPARTMENT OF ARABIC LANGUAGE ORGANIZES A COURSE ON MENTAL HEALTH AND ITS ROLE IN UNIVERSITY STUDENT EXCELLENCE

The Department of Arabic Language at the College of Education for the Humanities at the University of Kerbala organized an educational course entitled “Mental Health and Its Role in theExcellence of the University Student.” The course was presented by members of the department’s Psychological and Counseling Committee, including Asst. Prof. Hamid Shihab Ahmed and Asst. Prof. Ali Hamza Hadi, and attended by students from the department.

The course aimed to highlight the factors that enable students to control their emotions and exercise self-responsibility. It also aimed to enable them to set goals and set their own ambitions based on their abilities, aptitudes, and surrounding circumstances. It also highlighted the mechanisms used to develop students’ ability to avoid anxiety and psychological conflicts, and emphasized the need for behavioral flexibility to confront the changing circumstances of the changing reality as time and place change all the time.

The course included several topics, most notably: defining mental health and its importance for students, as well as shedding light on some terminology related to mental health.
