Department of English Hosts a Seminar on Strategies to Combat Violent Extremism Leading to Terrorism

As part of efforts to curb extremism and societal violence while promoting a culture of peaceful coexistence, the Department of English at the College of Education for the Humanities, University of Kerbala, in collaboration with the Division of Islamic Studies and Research affiliated with Imam HusseinHoly Shrine, organized an educational seminar titled “Strategies to Combat Violent Extremism Leading to Terrorism.”

The seminar featured a lecture by Sheikh Mazen ShakirAl-Temimi and was attended by faculty members and students.

The seminar aimed to shed light on the key strategies that should be implemented within society to mitigate violence and to highlight the various forms of violence that impact communities.

The discussion emphasized that conflicts leading to terrorism arise from human-to-human disputes driven by multiple social, psychological, and economic factors.

In his remarks, the department head expressed his sincere appreciation for Sheikh Mazen’s efforts in preparing and delivering the lecture, emphasizing the need to maintain ongoing and extensive collaboration with institutions affiliated with the holy shrines.

At the conclusion of the seminar, the esteemed Dean extended his gratitude and appreciation for the insightful lecture, noting that such initiatives serve as effective means to achieve social security and peace—fundamental pillars of sustainable development.
