As part of efforts to mitigate extremism and societal violence while fostering a culture of peaceful coexistence, the Department of Arabic at the College of Education for the Humanities, University of Kerbala, organized a scientific workshop titled “Violent Extremism Leading to Terrorism.”
The workshop featured speakers including Mr. Majid Dakhil Ouda, Director of the High Commission for Human Rights Office in Kerbala; Mr. Nawras Adnan; Ms. Faten Khaled from the Commission’s Office; Dr. No’man Juro Ali; and Dr. Mais Haibat Hameed. The event was attended by faculty members and students.
The workshop aimed to raise awareness among students about the dangers of violent extremism, its risks to individuals and society, and strategies to prevent it.
The key topics included defining the concept of extremism leading to terrorism, its root causes, and possible solutions.
The workshop concluded with a set of recommendations, the most notable of which was the development of educational and cultural awareness programs to channel societal energy positively and prevent tendencies toward fanaticism and terrorism.
