The College of Education for the Humanities, University of Kerbala, organised a workshop titled “Mass Media Impact on Shaping Perceptions and Opinions Worldwide: A Critical Discourse Analysis.” The workshop was led by Asst. Lect. Zeinab Ali Hussein, with the attendance of staff members and students.
The workshop aimed to equip participants with the skills to critically analyse news and current events, enhance their critical thinking abilities, and raise awareness about media operating under specific ideologies and authorities, highlighting its potential negative influences.
Notably, the workshop included several key topics among which are an introduction to critical discourse analysis, the role of ideology in media representation of global events, and the mechanisms of media manipulation.
