In collaboration with the Department of English, at the College of Education for the Humanities, University of Kerbala, the Continuing Education Unit organised a workshop titled “Enhancing Translation Skills.” The workshop was delivered by Asst. Prof. Dheyaa Khaleel Nayel and Lect. Samira Atshan Dakhil, targeting third-year students, with esteemed staff members in attendance.
The workshop addressed key aspects of professional translation, including an overview of translation and its various types, the essential skills and competencies of a successful translator, advanced translation strategies and computer-assisted translation tools, and a final assessment to evaluate participants’ progress and comprehension
The workshop aimed to equip students with the most recent translation techniques, enhance their ability to select appropriate terminology based on context, and emphasize the importance of cultural and linguistic nuances in translation. Participants were encouraged to focus on conveying meaning beyond literal translation to ensure accuracy and cultural sensitivity in cross-language communication.
