In collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Education for the Humanities at the University of Kerbala, the Department of Arabic Language organized a workshop titled “The Language of ‘Dad’ or ‘Za’”. The staff member Lect. Dua Kamal Dhiaf Allah(PhD), in the presence of a select group of the college’s faculty, staff, and students.
The workshop aimed to highlight one of the weaknesses among the students in the department regarding spelling and the confusion between the letters ظ “Za” and ض“Dad,” as well as the most important works that have addressed this topic, in addition to presenting effective solutions and appropriate methods to avoid the issue among the students.
The workshop included a discussion among the attendees about the issues and differing opinions regarding the right of the letter “ḍād” to lead the celebration of the Arabic language, thus being titled “Language of ظ “Za” instead of “Language of ḍād,” as it is the letter that distinguishes Arabs from other nations, according to studies in this field.
