The College of Education for the Humanities at the University of Kerbala organized a scientific seminar titled “Criteria for Selecting Scientific and Academic Journals to Improve the H-Index.” The seminar was presented by Dr. Mohie Murtadha Al-Qizwini, Director of the Information Technology Section, and targeted faculty members, researchers, and postgraduate students.
The seminar aimed to:
• Understand the H-index, its definition, and its significance in evaluating researchers’ academic performance and its impact on academic and professional reputation.
• Explore the criteria for selecting scientific journals and identify the most suitable ones for publishing research in alignment with specific fields of study.
• Learn strategies to improve the H-index, including ways to enhance research impact and increase citation rates.
The seminar covered three main topics:
1. Understanding the H-index.
2. Indexed international and local journals.
3. Avoiding predatory and counterfeit journals.
