The Continuing Education Unit Organises a Training Course on Using the (Cropwat.8) Programme to Extract Climatic Water Balance

The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Education for the Humanities, University of Kerbala, organised a training course titled “Using the (Cropwat.8) Program to Extract Climatic Water Balance for Natural Studies,” presented by Asst. Prof. Sundus Mohammed Alwan(PhD), targeting postgraduate students.

The course aimed to train students on using statistical programmes, including Cropwat.8, to extract the water balance in applied geographic studies, focusing on the water requirements of agricultural crops by determining water consumption based on the crop’s water requirements.

It is important to note that the course included several key topics among which are the concept of climatic water balance and water requirements, installing the program and working with it to extract the climatic water balance, as well as displaying mathematical applications for the Karbala station and the Mosul station.

Finally, the course concluded with several recommendations, the most prominent of which was the necessity to continue training students on the latest computer programs in the Geography Department due to their scientific importance in obtaining accurate data for theses and dissertations.
