English Department Holds a Seminar to Conduct the M.A. Students’ Research

College of Education, English Department, holds a scientific seminar to monitor progress of the M.A. students to fulfil their research phase, discuss processes of scientific writing, identify main obstacles students face during this phase, and work on overcoming them in the future.
The seminar has been attended by the Head of the English Department, Asst. Prof. Dr. Raith Zuhair Abdul-Amir, and members of the Committee. The meeting deals with summaries of the research and discusses them scientifically to enhance quality of research output.

A Lecturer from College of Education for Humanities Publishes a Research in an International Scientific Journal

Published in an International journal, Dr. Samira Atshan Dakhil Al-Fayyad, College
of Education for Humanities, published a scientific paper in Wisdom Journal for
Studies and Research, University of Justice and Wisdom , America.
The paper, which is entitled: “Misinformation About American and British
Presidential Demise: Trump and Charles III as Examples”, investigates pervasive
phenomenon of misinformation concerning the alleged demise of prominent global
leaders, emphasizing how such fabricated news manipulates public opinion. By
adopting recent viral controversies surrounding the rumored deaths of President
Donald Trump and Britain’s King Charles III as primary case studies, the study
navigates the intricate linguistic mechanisms behind fake news. The core objective is
to address critical inquiries regarding the deliberate employment of linguistic
presuppositions to propagate misinformation. Furthermore, it seeks to uncover the
precise strategies utilized to obscure factual events, identify patterns in how evidence
is mystified, and pinpoint effective corrective measures.

The findings underscore the vital necessity of linguistic scrutiny, coupled with
multidisciplinary approaches and strict reliance on authentic sources, to effectively
dismantle digital misinformation in the modern information era.

Participation in a debating committee of an M.A. Thesis in college of Education for Humanities

Prof. Dr. Azhar Hassan Saloumi, English Department- College of Education for Humanities, University of Kerbala, was selected as a member of the committee that examined the M.A. thesis which is entitled: “A Cyber -Pragmatic Study of Anti-Awareness Drugs in Selected Posters,” at the College of Education for Women, University of Baghdad.

This academic activity keeps pace with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education), which emphasizes the importance of providing inclusive, equitable, and inclusive education for all and promoting lifelong learning opportunities. Such academic discussions contribute to improving the quality of education, developing teaching methods, and fostering creative thinking among learners, thereby strengthening the building of a knowledge-based society capable of achieving sustainable development.

The Department of English Commemorates the Birthday of Lady Fatimat Al-Zahraa( PBUH).
In the presence and patronage of Professor Hassan Habib Al –Krurati, the Dean of the College of Education for Humanities at Kerbala University, The Department of English Commemorates the Birthday of Lady Fatimat Al-Zahraa( PBUH) in one of the halls of the department on Monday morning January 17, 2023. The ceremony began with the national anthem, then the speech of the Dean . The event was attended by the head of the department , a number of the department of English teaching staff as well as a number of university professors and students

College of Education for Humanities held National Quranic Ceremony
In the presence and patronage of the President of University of Kerbala, Professor Basem Khalil Nile Al -Saidi, the Department of Arabic at the College of Education for Humanities held a National Quranic Ceremony at the university Hall , on Sunday morning, January 15-2023 , in cooperation with the Center of Quranic Projects in the Holy Quran Scientific Complex affiliated to Al-Abbas Holy Shrine on the occasion of the birthday of lady Fatimat Al-Zahraa( PBUH).
The Ceremony began with the recitation of some verses (Ayas) of the Holy Quran ,followed by the national anthem, and then reading of Surat Al -Fatihah ( the opening Sura ) to the souls of the martyrs of Iraq. Quran reciters from Al-Abbas Holy Shrine started recited some verses (Ayas) The reciters were Mr. Hassanein Al -Helou, Mr. Ammar Al -Hali, and Al -Radoud Al -Husseini Maher. Sultan Al -Karbalai, as well as the Quran group recitation represented by some students of the Emir National Readers Project.
The Ceremony was attended by the President of University of Kerbala, Professor Basem Khalil Nile Al –Saidi, the Assistants of the University President for the Scientific and Administrative Affairs, the Dean Assistant for Scientific Affairs, Professor Muayyad Omran Chiad and the Head of the Department of Arabic Language, Professor Laith Meadid Obaid, and a number of the college teaching staff as well as a number of university professors and students.

Food Packages
Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education for the Humanities Prof. Dr. Hasan Habeeb Al-Guraiti and with the direct follow-up of Prof. Dr. Sabah Wajid Ali, Chair of the Dept. of English, and out of the solidarity among all members of society during the holy month of Ramadan, the dept. has taken the initiative to supply those who live on short commons with food packages. The Ramadan food package has been one of the most popular aspects of the holy month.
