Immigration Literature: General Appreciation
Asst. Prof Dheyaa Khaleel Nayel
Immigration literature is predominantly concerned with issues faced by immigrants and those can be social or economic and sometimes political. The scope of this kind of literature is rather the people travelling from their country of origin to another country to which they do not belong as citizens. In this sense, it is mainly concerned with the theme of travelling from one country to another. The notion in this essay is to tackle the idea of immigration within the same country as people are motivated by economic and social reasons to abandon the land of their ancestors and reside in a new land. For instance, in the streets of our city, we often encounter a group of people from different social backgrounds. The majority of those groups created a different social identity that does not really mingle with the basic social mainstream of the city. Moreover, the newly created class can be seen in terms of its merits and demerits.
The merits of this group can be pronounced in terms of providing facilities for the locals in transportation, teaching and other activities. A large number of those new comers work on small pickup trucks locally known as TikTok and they work in the downtown to facilitate the movement of people from one part of the city to another; therefore, this is a positive sign on the part of those people. Another important aspect for such workers is the fact that they provide proper income for their families. Even at school or universities we have people from the new group who add value to the institutions they joined. Additionally, they are able to bring innovative ideas in their work; consequently such ideas encouraged local teachers to think out of the box and be as innovative as their new peers.
Speaking of the negative aspects that one might associate with those people, it is really hard and disheartening to postulate that man had negative features but man as the product of where and how he lives is liable to demonstrate a number of traits that do not align with the social norms. In this regard, deserted cities and lack of education will force the people in those cities to look at other places as a dream place for them, so as a matter of fact they are not to blame.
The best solution for the immigration problem faced by the society in any city is providing institutions that can make the life easier and more comfortable in their communities, so the need for immigration and travel will fade away and the cities will prosper as well. Our young generation aspires to other countries as they find alluring items that are not available in their native land.
