Stylistics
Stylistics is the study of style of language . It studies the language choices and its effects on the meaning and our interpretation of the language. It studies the ways in which different linguistic features are combined together to present different types of expressions. Stylistics is considered as an interdisciplinary field , since it connects between literature and linguistics to show how language functions in different contexts. It is particularly concerned with the study of literary texts, but it is  also used  for every day conversations.
Stylistics is divided into three different theoretical approaches: firstly formalist stylistics , it is concerned with the form of  literary texts such as the linguistic devices like : metaphor , imagery , alliteration and personification. All these linguistic devices enriched the literary text with aesthetic aspect. Secondly , the pragmatic stylistics, it is concerned with the effect of the context on the meaning of the language , since pragmatics is the study of the speaker’s intended meaning. This type of stylistics is particularly concerned with non- literary works. It means the style that is used in everyday communications. Thirdly, cognitive stylistics that is used for conceptual imagery or conceptual process of the reader and the listener and how the style of the language effect their comprehension. Cognitive stylistics is concerned with how the participants of the language use their mental process to make sense of figurative language such as metaphor or personification and how mentally engaged with a text.
