The world is currently witnessing rapid development and increasing application of artificial intelligence (AI) systems in various fields. The use of AI technologies is not limited to manufacturing or service provision, but extends to improving and developing education as a method and tool. Education is one of the most important fields witnessing the increasing use of AI applications and also has broad prospects for developing this use in the future. The role of AI in education is embodied in two goals: the first is to make people more adaptable as responsible workers and citizens in a world shaped by AI systems. The second goal focuses on providing AI with significant potential to continuously improve and develop education and training. In computer science, the term artificial intelligence (AI) refers to any human-like intelligence displayed by a computer, robot, or other device. A common definition of AI is the ability of a computer or machine to mimic the capabilities of the human mind—learning from examples and experiences, recognizing objects, learning and responding to language, making decisions, solving problems, and combining these and other capabilities. These capabilities are supposed to enable a computer or other automated device to perform functions typically performed by humans, such as welcoming a guest at a hotel or driving a car. In other words, AI is a combination of many different technologies that enable machines to understand, act, and learn with human-like intelligence.

Many countries around the world, as well as many global companies operating in various economic sectors, are moving towards investing heavily in the field of artificial intelligence and developing its technologies. This is especially true after the effectiveness of AI applications was proven during the COVID-19 pandemic, which also reinforced the conviction of the need to further develop these technologies and expand their uses. Accordingly, according to the Global Artificial Intelligence Index published by Tortoise Intelligence, total investment in AI technologies in 2021 rose to a record level of $77.5 billion, compared to $36 billion in 2020. From online textbooks to remote lectures, advancements in education technology have reached unprecedented levels. Today, artificial intelligence plays a key role in helping students and teachers improve and automate learning and teaching tasks. As AI technologies advance, its contribution to the education and training process will only increase and strengthen.
