Ego Depletion and its Relation toSocial Support of University Students

Abstract
The current research is abbreviated in two concepts: ego depletion and support. Ego depletion is represented by a temporary decrease in individuals’ power to control themselves for self-control relies on a limited resource of psychological power as a result of this decrease the individual becomes more pressed and more aggressive and speedier emotive. Social support represents the moral and material support that individuals receive from others who surround them.
The current study aims at knowing:

  1. Ego depletion in university students.
  2. The differences of the statistical indicators in ego depletion according to the gender and specialization variables.
  3. The level of social support of university students.
  4. The differences of the statistical indicators in social support according to the gender and specialization variables.
     5. The correlative relation between ego depletion and the social support of the university students according to the gender and specialization variable The researcher adopted the descriptive correlative approach to carry out the research results and to achieve its aims.
The statistical analysis sample was formed of ( 400) male and female students from Kerbala university including the scientific and human specializations for the academic year 2021- 2022 who were randomly chosen with equal distribution to achieve the reliability of the devices used in the study. The basic sample consisted of( 400) male and female students from Kerbala university/morning study.
To achieve the study aims, the researcher designed a standard of the ego edition in this research depending on the ( Baumeisthe ter, 1998) model which was displayed on a group of specialized ed jury to test the reliability of its items. Then, its psychological characteristics were taken out including reliability and stability. The value of the stability factor by Alf Kronbach reached ( 0.94) and by retesting way reached ( 0.89). Then, the final standard basic form was applied to the research basic sample that reached (377) male and female students. The researcher also adopted the social support standard by ( Al ‘jam, 2013) which consisted of five fields that were displayed on a group of the specialized jury to ca y out its standard features where the value of the stability factor by Alf Kronbach reached ( 0.92) and by retesting way reached ( 0.85). after finishing the researcher’s statistical devices that are suitable to the nature and aims of the current study, the researcher relied on the statistical package for the social sciences (spss). So, the results were the following:
      1. There is no ego depletion for university students.
     2. There are no differences in a statistical sense about ego depletion according to the gender and specialization variables.
     3. university students enjoy a middle level of social support.
     4. There are no differences in a statistical sense about social support according to the gender and specialization variables.
     5. There is a positively correlated relationship between ego depletion and social support for university students.
      6. There are differences in statistical sense between ego depletion and society for the benefit of the male gender.
  5. There are no differences in the statistical sense between ego depletion and the social according to the specialization. The results were interpreted by the models adopted in the study and the previous studies.
Thus, the study recommends the following:
       1. Getting benefits from the young non depleted potentials, developing their skills, and caring with them for they represent an important class that raises the country’s reality.
       2. Emphasizing the role of social support for it is one of the significant sources that decrease the psychological tension which the students face
