New Edition Released: ‘‘Unwan al-Muraqqisāt waal-Mutribāt’ Edited by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Hussein Al-Mahdawi

As part of the Prime Minister’s initiative to support the publication of books, and under the “Tahqiq” (Critical Edition) series issued by the House of Cultural Affairs – Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities – a new edition of the book Unwan al-Muraqqisāt wa al-Mutribāt by Abu Al-Hasan Ali ibn Abi Imran Musa ibn Muhammad ibn Abdul-Malik ibn Sa’eed Al-‘EnsiAl-Gharbi Al-Andalusi (d. 685 AH) has been released. This edition was critically edited by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Hussein Al-Mahdawi and Prof. Dr. Adnan Muhammad Al-Tu’meh, both faculty members at the Department of Arabic, College of Education for the Humanities.

The book belongs to a body of classical anthological literature compiled by scholars from an early period. Andalusian scholars, in particular, made significant contributions to the compilation of poetry and prose selections from both within and beyond Al-Andalus. The work includes refined selections of poetry and prose that combine eloquence and clarity, depth and delicacy of meaning, as well as an elegant and captivating style.

It is noteworthy that this is the fourteenth authored work by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Hussein Al-Mahdawi. The volume spans 608 pages, showcasing the prominent literary figure Ibn Sa’eed Al-Andalusi, whose distinguished contributions and scholarly works remain a focal point for researchers in Arabic literature across the East and West.
