The Department of Arabic Language at the College of Education for the Humanities, University of Kerbala, has organized a scientific course titled “Basics of Grammar for Beginners.” Dr. Mohammed Salam Mudhhir and Dr.Aliaa Nusrat Hassan have presented the course and it was specifically delivered to first-year students.
The course has aimed to enable students to parse (iʿrāb) any sentence beyond their academic curriculum.
The course covered the following topics: an introduction to grammar, the structure of Arabic sentences (nominal and verbal), as well as parsing vs. fixed forms, and negation.
It is worth noting that this course is considered one of the most important scientific offerings in the Department of Arabic Language. It equips students with a high level of specialized linguistic skill, helping them achieve their academic goals even before delving deeply into the official curriculum. Mastering grammatical analysis empowers students across all branches of Arabic language studies—such as composition, rhetoric, morphology, semantics, and beyond. Additionally, it instils confidence in students, as acquiring such a skill enables them to tackle real-life challenges they may face in the future.
