The Department of Arabic Language at the College of Education for the Humanities, University of Kerbala, has held a seminar titled “Women’s Rebellion in Arabic Poetry”, presented by Lect. Dr. Karrar Jawad Kazim and Assist. Lect. Ahmed Zaki Al-Zubaidi. The seminar has been delivered to instructors and students of the college.
Women’s poetry has undergone multiple phases of rebellion—sometimes taking a positive form, and at other times, a negative one. The rebellion manifested in various ways, including personal, familial, authoritative, and societal rebellion, reflecting both constructive and destructive aspects.
The seminar has aimed to curb negative forms of rebellion that contradict the principles of Islam and to encourage positive rebellion as a means of confronting negative phenomena in society.
The seminar has covered several key topics: women’s poetry during the pre-Islamic era, the early Islamic period, and the Umayyad era. It also addressed women’s poetry in the Abbasid and medieval periods, as well as in the modern and contemporary eras.
