The course aimed to enhance students’ skills in employing active learning strategies, which are considered a foundational component of modern educational practices. The focus was placed on student-centred techniques that stimulate classroom engagement and participation.

Moreover, the course covered key topics including an introduction to role-playing strategies as one of the most effective tools in active learning. Additionally, it also shed light on the concept and scientific foundations of collaborative learning and the techniques for developing students’ social and academic skills, as well as, an analysis of challenges facing group-based learning and methods for overcoming them, and enhancing communication and teamwork skills among students.

The course concluded with several recommendations, the most important of which was the need to hold more workshops to benefit a wider student audience, encourage the use of active learning strategies in daily lectures to boost engagement, and offer advanced sessions for those interested in further developing their teaching competencies.

Notably, students expressed their appreciation for the content presented, noting that the workshop significantly shifted their perspective on the learning process. They also called for similar initiatives to be held regularly to further support skill development.

For his part, the Head of the Department, Prof. Ahmed Al-Azairjawi(PhD), affirmed that this workshop is part of a broader series of training programs organised by the department to keep pace with developments in education. He also emphasised the department’s commitment to implementing the workshop’s final recommendations.

It is worth noting that the department places great importance on practical and applied training, in alignment with its vision to prepare qualified educational professionals who contribute to the advancement of the educational system.
