A PhD Thesis in the Department of History Examining “The Ottoman Navy (1876–1918): A Historical Study”

The Department of History at the College of Education for the Humanities, University of Kerbala, investigated a PhD thesis titled “The Ottoman Navy (1876–1918): A Historical Study” by the researcher Amjad Ni’ma Gitan, supervisedby Prof. Dr. Hatem Rahi Nasir.  

The significance of the study lies in its exploration of the Ottoman Navy and its impact on the political landscape during the specified period. It serves as a preliminary investigative effort and a modest inductive step toward understanding the Ottoman Navy, which played a pivotal role in the history of the Ottoman Empire, particularly during that important critical phase.

The study consisted of three chapters:  

– Chapter One investigated the Ottoman Navy during the reign of Sultan Abdul Hamid II (1876–1908).  

– Chapter Two discussed the Ottoman Navy from the Second Constitutional Era until the outbreak of World War I (1908–1914).  

– Chapter Three investigated the Ottoman Navy and its activities during World War I.
