“Environmental Impact Assessment of Industrial Projects”: A Scientific Seminar Held by the Department of Applied Geography

The Department of Applied Geography at the College of Education for the Humanities, University of Kerbala, organised a scientific seminar titled “Environmental Impact Assessment of Industrial Projects.” The seminar featured presentations by Lect. Abbas Abdul Ameer Al-Umari(PhD), Lect. Zaid Kamil Jawad(PhD), Asst. Lect. Anfal Khudair Abbas, and Asst. Lect.Dhiya Qahtan Al-Ukabi, and was attended by staff members and students.

The seminar aimed to raise awareness about the importance of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) as a vital tool for environmental protection and sustainable development. It covered the core concepts and principles of EIA, including its stages, procedures, and established standards. Discussions also focused on identifying and evaluating the potential negative environmental effects of industrial projects, strategies for mitigation, and promoting a balance between industrial growth and the preservation of natural resources.
