Thesis in the Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences Explores the Fear of Compassion and Its Relationship to Motivational Persistence Among People with Disabilities

A master’s thesis entitled “Fear of Compassion and Its Relationship to Motivational Persistence Among People with Disabilities” was debated at the Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences, College of Education for the Humanities, University of Kerbala. The thesis was submitted by researcher Samar Mohammed Zayer, under the supervision of Prof. Raja Yassin Abdullah (PhD).

The study aims to investigate the relationship between fear of compassion and motivational persistence among individuals with disabilities (referred to as people of determination), recognisingthe unique psychological and social challenges they face that may influence their drive for achievement and continuity.

Moreover, the study contains four chapters. Chapter Oneintroduces the research problem and objectives. Chapter Twoprovides the theoretical framework and reviews related literature, and Chapter Three outlines the research methodology and procedures. Finally, Chapter Four presents the results and their interpretation.

Additionally, the study reached several conclusions, among which are that individuals with disabilities exhibit both fear of compassion and motivational persistence, there are significant differences in fear of compassion based on gender, with males scoring higher, and based on type of disability, with individuals with rickets showing higher levels. Finally, differences in motivational persistence are also significant in favour of malesand those suffering from rickets.
