University of Kerbala Organizes a Scientific Symposium on Male Dominance in Language and Literature

College of Education for Humanities, University of Kerbala holds a scientific symposium on “Male Dominance in Literature and Language.” The symposium, which has been delivered by Dr. Abbas Obaid Al-Amiri, Dean of the College; Prof. Dr. Hadi Al-Saidi, Dr. Hassan Al-Asadi, Dr. Rafal Al-Tai, and Dr. Hazem Alawi, includes a presentation on the concept of dominance, the nature of male authority, and tendency of its discourse to impose its centrality at the expense of women’s roles. It also addresses cultural consequences of prevalence of male dominance in its various forms, both explicit and implicit, in discourses and texts.
To highlight manifestations of male dominance in language and literature, the symposium has discussed ways to strengthen discourse that supports women’s status and role in cultural and intellectual development.
