College of Education for Humanities, University of Kerbala Organizes Conference on the Role of Religious Authority (Marja’iyya) and Social Peace

College of Education for Humanities, Dept. of History, University of Kerbala organizes its the first National Scientific Conference on Religious Authority (Marja’iyya) and Social Peace, in cooperation with Karbala Center for Studies and Research_Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein. The conference included a wide participation of researchers from various Iraqi universities.

The President of the University, Prof. Dr. Sabah Wajid Ali, states that religious authority has historically played a crucial role in preserving social order, bridging differences, and safeguarding the unity of social fabric.

He adds that contemporary challenges necessitate drawing inspiration from this historical role of religious authority and utilizing it to build societal awareness.

Head of Karbala Provincial Council, Dr. Qasim Al-Yassari, points out that religious authority remains a safeguard for preserving social fabric and maintaining national unity. He explains that society, by its very nature, is keen to adhere to religious authorities’ directives whom participate actively in achieving peace.

For his part, Dean of the College, Dr. Hadi Al-Saidi, says that religious authority (Marja’iyya) has a crucial role in achieving security and peace, noting that (Marja’iyya) keeps on its active role locally and internationally.

To avoid crises and strengthen spirit of coexistence, Director of Karbala Center for Studies and Research, Abdul Ameer Al-Quraishi, the conference ends up with reviewing the pivotal role of religious authority in issuing religious guidance.
