Under the patronage of Prof. Sabah Wajid Ali (PhD), President of the University of Kerbala, and the supervision of Prof. Hadi Al-Sa’eedi (PhD), Dean of the College of Education for the Humanities, the college held its Fourth International Scientific Conference, titled “The Humanities and the Challenges of Building an Intellectual Society”, in collaboration with Al-HillaPrivate University, Iraq and Masoumeh University, Iran.
The opening session and conference activities were attended by the President of the University, the Dean of the College, as well as the Member of the Parliamentary Education Committee, Lect.Firas Al-Muslmawi (PhD), the President of the Provincial Council, Lect. Qasim Al-Yasiri (PhD), the President of the University of Al-Hilla, Prof. Aqeel Al-Sa’di (PhD), the Head of the Higher Education Committee in the Council, Lect. Mohsen Al-Kinani(PhD), and the Head of the Cultural Committee in the Council, Ms. Israa Al-Nasrawi, in addition to many researchers from Iraq and abroad, staff members, and students.
Notably, the conference commenced with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an, followed by the recitation of Al-Fatiha in memoryof the martyrs of Iraq, and then the Iraqi national anthem was honoured.
In his opening remarks, Prof. Hadi Al-Sa’eedi (PhD), Dean of the College, welcomed the attendees and stated that the conference serves as a platform for scholarly research and the exchange of perspectives among experts across various fields of knowledge, intending to offer solutions to pressing human challenges.
He further noted that the conference received 176 research papers from Iraq and abroad, 96 of which were accepted in fields including English language and translation, Arabic language, applied geography, history, educational and psychological sciences, information systems, tourism services, and issues related to identity construction. In light of this, the Dean emphasised the college’s ongoing efforts to promote applied scientific research, link academic inquiry to the labour market and community needs, and foster partnerships with international universities, as well as support entrepreneurial initiatives.
The opening session also featured a speech by the President of the University, and further speeches by Lect. Firas Al-Muslmawi(PhD), Member of the Parliamentary Education Committee, Lect. Qasim Al-Yasiri(PhD), President of the Provincial Council, Lect. Aqeel Al-Sa’di(PhD), President of the University of Al-Hilla, ended with a speech delivered by Lect. Mohsen Al-Kinani(PhD), Head of the Higher Education Committee. Finally, the session concluded with four keynote speakers presenting their scientific research papers and the distribution of commemorative shields to the participants and honoured guests.
